NHS Pensions are to provide scheme members with pension statements through a new online information service called Total Reward Statements (TRS).
Total Rewards Statements confirm the following based on information at the latest available update:
The statement also provides additional personalised information of relevance depending on whether you are a Practitioner member (i.e. GP, dentist or ophthalmic practitioner) or an Officer member.
The TRS is intended to improve your understanding of your benefits package and highlight the value of your employment and pension benefits in one place.
The statements have hit the headlines in the last couple of weeks as they include a ‘hypothetical annuity cost’, which is intended show how much it would cost to provide the same benefits through a private pension.
You can obtain your Total Reward Statement online by using the Government Gateway service. The Government Gateway service can be accessed at www.totalrewardstatements.nhs.uk.
When you access the website you need to click ‘log in/register’. You will then be asked to register for a Government Gateway ID, if you have not already done so. Once the registration is complete you must then enrol for the TRS service to be able to access your Annual Benefit Statement at any time.
