Today we continue to emphasise the main aspects of the 2015 NHS Pension Scheme.
- The new 2015 NHS Pension Scheme will be active from 1st April 2015.
- Not everyone will be moving to the 2015 NHS Pension Scheme on 1st April 2015. If, on the 1st April 2012, you were within 13 years and 5 months of your existing Normal Pension Age, and were an active member, then you will be subject to Protection arrangements. Everybody else will automatically transfer to the 2015 NHS Pension Scheme for future service.
- The NHS Pension that your have already accrued in the 1995 and 2008 Sections is safe and will be banked and any future retirement benfits will be based on your final salary at your eventual retirement. Please note you actually have to retire from the NHS to be able to access these benefits.
- Therefore whichever section of the NHS Pension Scheme you were in, 1995 or 2008, your benefits will be unchanged and paid out at your normal retirement dates for these Sections. It is the future Pension service under the 2015 NHS Pension Scheme that is changing.
